WEEK ONE: JUNE 24-28

Outdoor Explorers

Welcome to the great outdoors!  Explore local hiking trails, discover how to identify native plants and wildlife, and relax in a hammock under a shady tree. Stand on top of the world after you summit Mt. Baldy!  Ensconce yourself in the lush understory of herbaceous plants and the dense canopy of broadleaf and evergreen trees at Elijah Bristow State Park. This week will be full of outdoor adventures!


WEEK TWO: JULY 1-3 *No Camp 7/4&7/5

Birds, Bugs & Beasts

Buzz goes the bee!  Tweedle, deedle dee goes the bird!  Meet some eagles, hawks, falcons and more on a trip to the Cascade Raptor Center.  Inspect the ponds of Alton Baker Park and identify the many varieties of creatures that call them home.  Build bug, bird, and bee friendly structures for your own backyard that will support native wildlife!

WEEK THREE: JULY 8-12

Old Fashioned Summer

Pass the lazy days of summer in the shade of an oak tree.  Beat the heat running through sprinklers and splashing around Amazon pool.  Watch an old fashioned movie in a box car theater at the Brownsville Museum.  Sell lemonade at your own lemonade stand.  Wander through the shady orchards at Dorris Ranch and play some classic summer games!

*Center closed July 4 for Independence Day.  For this week only fees are: UO-Affiliated Families - $138, Community Families - $147


WEEK FOUR: JULY 15-19

Icky Sticky Science

Melt stuff!  ZAP stuff!  Squish it!  Freeze it!  Make it go POP!  Is it science or magic?  You'll find out.  Create erupting foam monsters and investigate the science of illusion.  Reveal the mysteries of science as you examine creepy creatures, make instant snow, mix up glowing slime, and conduct lab tests on mysterious substances.


WEEK FIVE: JULY 22-26

Carnival Craze

Step right up!  Step right up!  You will be the big winner this week as you design your own carnival games and fun house!  Master the tricks of a circus clown!  Enter the wacky veggie competition and see prize winning animals, crafts, and more at the Lane County Fair.


WEEK SIX: JULY 29 - AUGUST 2

Just Plane Crazy

Spend this week exploring the miracle of flight!  Take a journey to Oregon Air & Space Museum and sit in the cockpit of an airplane.  Unveil the mechanics of flight by experimenting with your own aircrafts.  Launch different types of rockets, build airplanes, and drop parachutes.


WEEK SEVEN: AUGUST 5-9

Wizards, Fairies & Elves

Enter the world of magic and myth!  Concoct potions, build homes for the fairy folk, and search for the elusive gnome.  Take a journey to the Enchanted Forest and immerse yourself in the world of fairy tales!  Learn new spells to cast with your own wand or wizard staff!


WEEK EIGHT: AUGUST 12-16

Olum Science & Space Academy

3...2...1...BLAST OFF with the OSSA and journey through the wonders of our solar system and beyond!  Investigate the stars and constellations as you take an out-of-world sky tour at the Eugene Science Center Planetarium and explore a scale model of our solar system at Alton Baker Park.  Design space capsules and launch "eggstronauts", delve into Newton's Laws of Motion, build your own star projector, and more!


WEEK NINE: AUGUST 19-23

Stop Motion Animation

And the award for Best Stop Motion Animation Short Film goes to...YOU!  Discover the art of stop motion animation by creating your very own movie.  Kid friendly movie making software makes the process simple and fun!  Film, edit scenes, and add the perfect soundtrack!  Bring your imagination to life and debut your movie on the big screen.



HOURS & FEES

Camp Hours:     8:00 am - 5:30 pm
Themed Activities and Field Trips: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm daily.

Non-refundable Deposit: $20/week (deposit applied to weekly tuition)

UO-Affiliated Families:  $230/week*
Community Families:    $245/week*

* Week #3: Center closed July 4 & July 5 to observe Independence Day.  For this week only fees are: UO-Affiliated Families - $138, Community Families - $147

Late Pick-up Fee:         $1/minute

To be considered a UO-affiliated family, at least one parent or legal guardian must be a current UO employee or currently matriculated UO student attending school at least 1/2 time.

Fees include weekly field trips, campus excursions, weekly swimming at Amazon Community Pool, transportation on VOCDC buses, and nutritious snacks

Weekly tuition is due 30 days prior to the beginning of each camp week.  Registration will be cancelled and the deposit will be forfeited if tuition is not received by the due date.

REGISTRATION

To register, download the registration form below.  A $20 deposit is required for each camp session at the time of registration to reserve your child's spot.  The deposit is applied to the weekly tuition.  Registration is complete once the deposit and weekly tuition are paid in full.  Payments must be made by cash or check payable to Vivian Olum CDC.  We cannot accept credit/debit card payments.

Registration will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Register early as camps can fill quickly!  Please make sure to read our policies regarding tuition payments and cancellation deadlines prior to registering.


CAMP WAIT LIST

If a camp is full you can request to be placed on the wait list.  Deposits are not required to join the wait list.  Call 541-346-6596 to add your child to the list. 

Changes and cancellations often occur before each camp week and campers will be added from the wait list if space becomes available.


CANCELLATION POLICY

Cancellations received 30 days prior to the start of camp will receive a full refund less the non-refundable $20/week deposit.  Cancellations received two weeks prior to the start of camp will receive a 50% refund less the non-refundable $20/week deposit.  Cancellations received one week prior to the start of camp will receive a 25% refund less the non-refundable $20/week deposit.  No refunds will be given for cancellations with less than one weeks' notice.

LUNCH, SNACKS & ESSENTIALS

Morning and afternoon snacks, milk and water are provided by the center.  Children need to bring a portable bag lunch from home and a backpack to accommodate field trips and impromptu picnics.  It is ESSENTIAL that children bring water bottles and comfortable walking shoes every day.  An extra change of clothes will come in handy when our projects get "hands on".  Please apply sunscreen prior to coming to camp each day.  Please do not send spray sunscreen to camp.
