Michaela

I was born and raised in Springfield, Oregon, and have been a member of the Olum community since 2017. In high school, I enjoyed volunteering at my school's child development center as much as possible. When I graduated, I applied at Olum because working with children is a passion of mine. Pathfinders has always been my home classroom although I have spent time in all the classrooms as a sub. The 2-3 year old age group has always been my favorite, I love the way they are so observant and curious. My favorite things to do with children are dance parties, art projects and reading books. In my free time, I enjoy walking my dog, seeing my friends, and painting with watercolors and acrylics. My college experience has been significantly shaped by my time at Olum. The families and staff have taught me as much as my formal learning in the classroom. Although my degree is in economics, I am very knowledgeable in early childhood education and I hope to one day find a career that could combine the two.
