We understand the importance of receiving timely, accurate information about center closures and delays. VOCDC communicates closures and delays with families in the following ways:
UO Alerts for Olum Families
VOCDC utilizes the UO Alerts text messaging system to send information specifically to Olum families about center closures and delays.
This is the best way to receive timely, accurate information. Please note the following:
- You must be registered for UO Alerts to receive the VOCDC specific messages.
- You will receive all UO text message alerts when registered.
Register for UO Alerts messages to receive VOCDC information.
- Log into DuckWeb (https://duckweb.uoregon.edu)
- Select the "Personal Information" menu
- Select the "Enter/Update Emergency Alert Phone" link
- Enter your text-enable mobile phone number, including area code and then hit "Submit"
Add a second SMS text number (Owner of the second phone number does not need to be employed at UO).
- Log into DuckWeb (https://duckweb.uoregon.edu)
- Select “Personal Information”
- Select “Enter/Update Emergency Alert Phones”
- Add 2nd SMS phone number
- Hit “Submit”
- Please note: Once a new phone number is added to DuckWeb, that new number will be enabled to receive notifications the following day.
Visit the UO Alerts Blog
The university also maintains an Alerts Blog that provides information on situations that impact UO campuses, including inclement weather. Visit alerts.uoregon.edu during periods of inclement weather for university updates.
VOCDC Messaging
VOCDC will update the center's voicemail message to reflect delays and closures. Families can listen to this message by calling 541-346-6586. This update will be posted as soon as possible after the decision for closure or delay has been made, usually no later than 6:45 AM. During times when the 4J notification system may not be operating (for example during times when 4J is not in session), VOCDC will also send an email to VOCDC families. Please note that these emails may take some time to send depending on current conditions.
Additional Information
The center follows the 4J Eugene School District's decisions regarding delays and closures related to inclement weather.
